[can you maybe tell me a little bit about what you do when you're not at the aphasia center?] [do you have a hobby?] um can you say it one more time? [so do you have any hobbies that you like to do?] um hobbies. [mhm.] um (..) oh I like to ride (.) motorcycles and (.) drive (.) and build (.) race cars. [nods] [what kind of race cars?] hunting... I'm sorry say again? [what kind of racecars do you like to build?] um (.) circles track (..) cars [okay] (.) for modified is what my nephew drives. and we build it. [nods] [mhm.] uh and he does (...) go karts also. he actually is doing the go karts now. he x... too expensive. so he went to the (...) (.) x less expensive. is that right? [yeah.] so he's goin' back to play his go karts now. uh (..) and I have a (..) quad I ride. I haven't rode since I had a stroke. but (..) in a month (..) I'm allowed. [laughs] [how did you get into building race cars?] what's that? [when did you start building race cars?] when? [mhm.] um well like I say my nephew (.) started... (..) he's about twenty eight . and he (.) started riding go karts when he was (.) eight. so (.) I mean when I was a kid I always had my own m:otorcycles and go karts and stuff. but my brother built that one for my (.) nephew's own (.) go parts (..) from the time he started to race (.) which was years ago. and then when he was fifteen (..) my brother bought him a (..) dirt modified. and (..) it's a tube car [nods] [gestures a tube] with just a frame [gestures] just in the front where you put the motor in it from a car. [okay.] and you build all the rest... it's why it's called modified. [gestures] you modify your own (.) body in the back (.) out of (..) (.) side metal (.) and fiber blæs except for the very front where the motor sits and the front tire sit and are part of a car. [oh okay.] and x- like I say that was about (..) about f- thirteen years ago? we built the first one. and we've built about (.) three? (..) three of əm. [nods] while he was doin' it. it was just about (..) maybe five or six years ago he stopped doin' it. [okay.] [hm.] [um you had mentioned that you were taking a class at the U of A?] [can you tell me a little more about the class that you're taking?] x can say it again? [it's okay.] [um can you tell me more about the class that you're taking?] (..) no just not... I'm sorry. [laughs] [shakes head] [it's okay.] [um I'm tryin' to think what else.] [can you tell me how your wife you and your wife met?] (.) about my wife? [mhm.] [and how you met?] about (...) how we met? [mhm.] what we've... well (...) um (..) I met her when I was seventeen. (.) and (.) one of his (.) friend lived in (.) my neighborhood. and I went to his mom and dad's house. and h- (.) his sister kelly answered the door. and I (.) like just fell on her. and (.) I met her. and (..) I would say (..) I think we got married wɜm I was twenty. [okay.] and she had one little girl. and (.) we had another (.) son too. we have two kids (..) and now a granddaughter. [mhm.] so we've been married for over thirty years (.) now. [okay.] 16:20: when I speak outloud...
