[do you wanna tell me what you do what what your job is?] (..) what my job was? [yeah.] I was a (.) carpenter. [okay.] (..) ʌ- ʌ- um... [you can just talk about being a carpenter.] well (.) I s- was a framer for (..) you know... first time I did (..) a job to (.) frame... I was only seventeen when I first did it. and then I did a couple years driving [mhm] (..) and a couple other jobs. and then I went back to it by the time I was twenty. and I did it the rest of my life. [mhm.] so... [mhm.] uh (.) I worked at the same company for (.) twenty four years. [wow.] and (.) um (.) I was a foreman for (..) somewhere around (..) fifteen or twenty years. and I was a superintendent for a few years. [mhm.] and then the company (..) closed. [m:...] and I went back to work on my own (.) after that. [okay.] for the last... (..) for three years. and then I had my stroke [oh] (..) last year. [okay.] [mhm mhm.] [so you had your own company.] (..) [you had your own company?] uh yeah. I just (.) worked for myself. I never (.) got a license. xx I just (.) went to work on my own. I just didn't wanna go back to (.) frame anymore. I did a lot of framing still. but I didn't (.) do that much [uhuh] (..) since I (..) quit. [so you frame framed houses?] (.) I'm sorry? [did you frame houses?] yeah. framing houses (.) is what I did. [uhuh.] I mean I did (.) apartments and some commercial (.) and uh... but mostly homes. [uhuh.] I mean homes almost the whole time. [uhuh.] [are you a handyman too?] um (.) handyman is what I did. (.) remodeling is what I mostly did after [mhm mhm mhm] (..) to not get back into... I didn't wanna do it everyday anymore. [yeah.] it was just too much. [uhuh.] [so are you still doing it now?] what is it? [are you still doing handy man projects now?] not (.) my house. [shakes head] yeah. [shrugs shoulders] [laughs] I do things for my friends still. they make me (.) still. [laughs] but yeah. I haven't really worked yet. I'm workin' (...) five classes for speech therapy right now. and that's (.) four weeks (.) of (.) a week. [mhm.] so I'm just spending all my time tryin' to get my brain better [mhm] (.) right now. [mhm.] [that's great that's great.] if my buddies call I'll go and help əm at their house [mhm] (.) here and there. that's it. [mhm.] [yeah.] [um tell melodie about the aphasia groups at fabbie's.] about (.) the (..) aphasia center? [the group at fabbie's.] I'm not understanding that well. [the group.] [oh the group.] [mhm.] [at fabbie's.] yeah. [nods] [mhm.] [what what's that like?] um (...) well there's (..) about (.) thirty people in a class. [mhm.] and (.) it's a (.) three hour (.) class. three hours? three hours class. [nods] (..) you know for the day. and you'll start... (..) fabbie will come in and talk to everybody the whole class. tell us the date talk about the weather. she gets one of the guys that does the weather. and we all talk for about a half an hour. and then we all go (.) into other (.) classes. about five or six people (.) in each class. and you spend an hour to learn (..) reading (.) writing um (..) or just (.) (.) brain (.) games I should say. just to cʌmjunəkeʃ- communication mostly. or keep your brain working. [mhm.] you know? and (.) then you'll do another hour in a different class. and (..) same... just a different type of class. and then you'll go back into (.) her class. everybody in the same room. and one person in the class will tell a presentation [mhm] (.) afterwards. [mhm.] when dɛ- dana came [points at dana] [yes] (..) and did it. one day she did a presentation for us one of əm. [uhuh.] but usually it's one of the students or one of the helps. [mhm.] or somebody will come in from some place else in the class. [mhm.] it's pretty cool. [yeah yeah.] I've had to... did I have to do it already? I did it in my class. yeah I'm supposed to do it on (..) the sixth I think [oh] (.) of april. I gotta do another one. [what are you gonna talk on?] uh (.) I think I'm gonna do (..) all the pictures of my mom and dad's house that I built for əm [oh] (..) in the nineties. [wow.] I think. [uhuh.] I think. it seems like one of the guys (.) didn't get everything. and (..) he might (.) finish that a different time. so I might get bumped which is good. cause it's a pain in the butt. [laughs]
