but you know there's a chance we make good you know? they have me do the (.) test and stuff. like you're really moving good. you're moving around way better you know? [good.] and so I did... (.) he added a couple more (..) exercises now (.) that are (.) you know... it's weird cause when he gives me a new one... (.) big pain again. it's like /u/ /aʊ/ I haven't done that one yet. you know? [both participant and examiner laugh.] he's like well that's twice a day. you know here you go. [participant laughs.] [oh yeah.] but it's... [your muscles...] yeah this one is now go behind your back... like puttin'... I was like I can put (.) my (.) my /fu-/ (.) /fun/ [gestures phone]... I can't say it right. (..) [mhm.] my phone [mhm] in my back pocket. but for a while I had to do it in my right. because I couldn't put my hand back there at all. and now he's puttin' my back and pullin' it (.) holding onto a (..) [points to belt] belt or somethin' and how high I can pull it up in the back. [mhm mhm.] and (.) that's a new (.) pain. [yeah.] haven't... you know like I said I couldn't even touch it before. and now (.) I'm stretchin' it. you know? [mhm.] [participant laughs] it's funny. [oh.] it's painful. but whatever. you know I would rather (.) fix it now. [mhm mhm.] you know? [mhm yepp.] so what the heck? [ do you still see Fabby for individual sessions too?] no individuals (.) [mhm] yet. [mhm.] I want (..) one s:emester. [mhm.] and we're on my second ɜstəmɚ [uhuh] (.) of the two. when I started individual at st. joseph beginning... [mhm.] and (.) um (.) again it was access which they don't even do adults. zero. [oh.] zero. [oh really?] yeah it was (..) kind of tripping my w- ... I got my access when I had my stroke. I was workin' for myself. I had no insurance. [yeah.] in april I was gonna get Kelly and I both [mhm] (..) health insurance. and then I had my stroke (.) just a month before I was gonna pay for it [ah] which no big deal. it doesn't matter. [mhm.] but (.) when I came out of the hospital [mhm] Kelly talked to that insurance company. and they said there's no way I'm gonna pay for me to go to sp- speech therapy. so she went to the other (.) insurance companies of access [mhm] and found one said yeah we (.) do it. [hm.] and so she changed me up (.) from one to another. [mhm.] and then she applied for it. and they denied it. [hm.] and d- she (.) called and said what's the story you guys said... and they're like oh well we only do (..) under eighteen. no adults. [hm.] none. [ugh.] and (..) she got (.) busy. she argued with them. [mhm.] and they gave me s:ix weeks. [oh.] twelve classes. [good.] and so I went those individuals. and that was (.) x some of the first words I ever hɚ- unders- ʌndɚstɪd were... and it was by (..) um... if she would write it down and say it... if I could read it at the same time... we read together [mhm] you know? she could speak when I was lookin' at words... I could hear əm right. [mhm.] I was like woah how does that work? you know it was like miracle. I thought I was never gonna hear. [yeah.] I was like it's like I'm deaf. [mhm.] you know? uh and then I started using a (.) tablet [mhm] that it would show like three pictures. [mhm.] and it'd say one of əm. [mhm.] and it would say it. and I wouldn't know what it is. and then I'd see the third one. and then I'd hear it. it would be dənaɪd. I was like wow that's like a delay. that's weird. you know? [hm.] (..) but I didn't... (..) when they (..) denied the insurance we tried again. she told me to (..) go see (.) Fabby and Janet both. [mhm mhm.] and I was already (.) on a list for both of əm already. [mhm.] but it wasn't gonna happen until about (.) the f:irst of the year. I think it was February for one. and the other one was like (..) [patient ponders] April or somethin'. [mhm mhm.] and then because Debby talked to those two... they're friends... and they got me in the first cəmɜst- [mhm] semester [mhm] of both of əm. I got right in and got both (.) [nice] (.) the last semester last year. and then when they... and I told em you know I'm gonna run out of money of this. cause I'm payin' for it. you know I was like (.) ʊ- whoever wins for individual wins. [mhm.] so let's get it to happen. cause the other one... I might just be gone. [yeah.] you know? [yeah.] and Janet (.) got me on the first semester. and I'm doin' two. when you saw me that day I was (.) two hours... I do one class on Thursday and then group and individual both. and (.) it's tough. uh I f:orgot how s:tressful it was to do it with just two. [mhm.] you know what I mean? but whatever. [yeah.] it's cool. [mhm.] [wow good for you.] I'm plannin' to (.) hear everything. [mhm.] [patient laughs] I don't know if I will. but I'm plannin' on it. [yeah.] [yepp.] I don't know. [mhm.] [ugh that's great.] [patient laughs] later in video.... it makes me wonder if I knew more about the (.) what's the first guy you asked me? [einstein.] aɪnstin. I wonder if I knew more about him than (.) (.) xx how do you say it? [close.] [beatles.] [mhm] beatles. [mhm.]
